Quiet Moment

In that quiet moment, I was able to pour this cup of coffee, take the photo, and hear a little boy cry...

So much for hot coffee...maybe I should spare myself the disappointment and start drinking iced coffees.

Peace

Peaceful...
So many thoughts about that these days. "For He Himself is our peace" (Ephesisans 2:14)

This shot Noah took this morning in camp reminds me of a Robert Frost poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. You know how the snow muffles all the noise, it's almost warm, in a way that only a northerner can understand. Peaceful, calm...the woods in winter.

The calm of the woods was mirrored in our home today. I was so nervous about being home by myself with both boys for the first time, but it has gone remarkably well. Forrest has played well and obeyed all day. Elliot has nursed well and slept peacefully. So nice to just be us, and have it be a smooth day.

"How good and how pleasant it is
For brothers to dwell together in unity!"

Thanksgiving

Ah yes...the great American road trip!

Yesterday we loaded up the boys (How fun! I can say boys now!) and headed to Traverse City for Thanksgiving "Break". Noah's mom got free passes to the water park at Great Wolf Lodge, and so instead of turkey, we hit the water. Forrest was a bit overwhelmed by the whole place, but showed a lot of courage and eventually enjoyed himself. Elliot slept through the whole thing in the sling with mom.

After an afternoon of playing in the "Wawa"
it was time for an oatmeal bar and milk

I love it when babies cross their eyes!

The whole family! (I was very proud of this shot!)

Today was Thanksgiving for us. All of Noah's brother and their families were here and there are now 5 kids under 5...in January there will be 6 under 5!

We are still debating what will happen for a good chunk of the day tomorrow, but there will be a 2 year old birthday party in the evening, complete with pizza and the toddler set playing.

It Doesn't Get Much Better

Forrest Dooley

Forrest has been growing so many ways in the past weeks! I think I notice it more now that I have a newborn again, remembering that is what Forrest was like and now he is more little boy than baby.

Praying...
Forrest wants to pray all the time now. We have always prayed with him at bed time and meal times. He realizes when someone is praying and he will either fold his hands or grab our hands. But over the past couple of weeks, he will be playing and just stop, fold his hands and say "pray." I thought to my self at one point this week, "this little stinker is getting me to pray more!" Kids grow you in all kinds of ways!

Talking...
Forrest talks non stop! I am not kidding...there isn't 15 minutes that goes by when he is awake where he isn't telling me something. A lot of times it has to do with cars, trucks, ducks, monos (monkies), book, or "Bebe". He drags his books all over the house and he is starting to "read" them by looking at the pictures! When did he grow up?

Physically...
Forrest is just plain stronger and more able than he was just a few weeks ago. He climbs all over things, wants to go "walk" and is everywhere! Yesterday he played in the snow for the first time...Grandma had to drag him back in the house he had so much fun! I am going to have a hard time keeping up with him now!

Requested Photos

"I would like to see a picture of your desk. :-) Where do you sit when you check Facebook?
Oh, yes. And more pictures of Elliot and Forrest, please."

-Jenn
Here you go Jenn. This is what Elliot and Forrest were doing while I was taking photos of my desk and them:)
Swinging away

Forrest was telling me that "Bebe" is sleeping...see his sign?

My desk...where I check Facebook and blog...yeah, a bit messy right now.

"i want to see pictures of your food. pantry, refrigerator and freezer. :) maybe i'll get a good idea for dinner tonight. "
-Racheal

Ok...but remember, I just had a baby and people have been bringing food...so things are a little cramped right now.

Inspired yet, Rach?

Fun little game

This was on a friends blog and since I asked to see the insides of her linen closets, I have to put myself out there! But I figured I can still use a camera and a computer in my invalid state, so this might be kinda fun. So, here goes...

Ask me to take pictures of any aspect of my life that you’re interested in or curious about. It can be anything from my favorite shirt to my cell phone. Leave your requests as a comment to this entry, and I’ll snap the pictures and post them as soon as I can. I would also add that you can ask anonymously, if you'd like. And if you decide to play along, do post the meme in your own blog!

On a completely different note...remind me to tell you about Forrest and praying. Right now I have to get Elliot up and try to get all three of us presentable to go to Staff Fellowship! Wish me luck!
