One of the things I have been praying for our boys over the last six or nine months is that God would prepare their hearts for this huge move across the world. I really wondered how God would do that. I mean come on, they were only two and six months old!
And over the months, it's been amazing to watch it happen.
Way back in October, we had a chance to meet the Williamsons face to face. We spent maybe 5 hours with them. There isn't a week that goes by without Forrest talking about their kids, how we will play with them, that we will have a dog.
Last week Forrest said to me, "We are going to fly to Honduras! Here's the airplane, (pointing to the couch) get in Mom." He had "packed" all his books, his stuffed animals and blanky. He told me it was going to be a long trip and that we needed to read and eat snacks. Then we even took a nap because it takes so very long to get to there.
We arrived in "Honduras" and he said we were there to support the LAM. No lie, that's exactly how he said it! I asked him what that meant and he said we would read and eat snacks and play with people. Ok, so he is a bit sketchy on the details, but he is getting it!
God also brought us an Little People airport set. A family connected with camp brought a bunch of toys to us last summer their kids had outgrown, and amazingly enough (ha, why do we doubt God does stuff like this) in the box was this airport, complete with airplane and pilot. So my boys can play and work through what it will be like to travel to and from our different homes.
There is so much about raising kids in a foreign country that seem utterly beyond me. All of that is fodder for several other posts, but I am so grateful to see how God is answering my prayer now of getting the boys ready for what's next for our family!
