Playing Catch Up

I feel incredibly behind on so many things, the dishes, the laundry, the van that still needs to be unpacks, thank you cards that need to be written, people to talk to, playroom to sort, the list goes on and on and on.

So, here's life, in bullet form.

• Our trip to Holland this weekend was fantastic!  We stayed with good friends, were able to share at Calvary during the Sunday School hour and during the morning service.  Our kids did great in the new environment, had a blast in nursery and Sunday School.  We were able to spend some quality time with 2 different supporting families, one we haven't seen in 7 years!  It was great to catch up and meet all the new kids that weren't even thought of when we were together last.

• We are just 7 days away from our first week of campers!  On Tuesday those big green buses will be rolling in full of kids ready for their one and only week of camp.

• In just 6 days, my dear dear friend is flying in from Arizona for not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 days with us!  I am trilled beyond belief!  

• Elliot learned how to get out of the crib.  When we got home Monday night, he managed to do it 5 times in a row.  Oh my.  I ended up having a long talk with that boy about how mama and papa are the only ones to get him out of the crib.  So far, so good.

• This whole global warming thing is not working for us.  It is 53 here today.  We were under a frost advisory 2 night ago.  It feels like fall.  At this rate, we will literally be celebrating Christmas in July, because there will be 3 feet of snow on the ground.  Guess we got our week of summer at the end of May. Not that I mind that much, but this was the first year we decided to install our window air conditioner.  And I still have a jug of iced coffee mix just waiting to be used.  But now I want hot coffee.  Oh well.

• We are researching semi trailers to buy.  Yep, you read that right.  We figure it's better to buy one, keep it at my parents' house, then to pay for a storage unit for the next umpteen years.  Anyone know anything about buying a container?

• While we were in Holland, staying with two MKs, we discovered all kinds of solutions for challenges we are going to be facing.  Like, did you know there is a think called a power inverter that you can hook up to car batteries and it will give you constant power to run things like laptops, fans, and even refrigerators?  Yeah, you just got to know who to talk to!  Exciting to know there are some options available to us.
