Update on the Vanilla

Just a quick update on the vanilla.  It looks more and more like vanilla extract everyday.  I was talking with my blacksmith brother and he mentioned he thought this was called a tinture.  Intresting.  And I love the fact that my brother is intrested in things like making tinctures.

Anyway, it's still not quite ready to use.  Another couple of weeks, somewhere around the beginning of March.  But it smells great!

  1. I thought of you and your vanilla "experiment" when I decided to use REAL vanilla extract (instead of my usual imitation vanilla) when I made brownies a couple weeks ago... :)

  2. After reading a couple of weeks ago how you MAKE real vanilla, I realize why I had to go to the liquor section of the market in Mexico to buy my mom some! She likes the clear vanilla we used to get there (I was on a missions trip, my dad used to go all the time on business) to make frosting with .

  5. Hey there Amanda! Glad to help with the yogurt process! It is so very easy! I have found too that adding some acidophiles (a pro biotic you can get in the vitamin section) helps thicken the yogurt.
