What a Day

Mamas need sick days.  But they don't happen.  And while I was fighting the sniffles today, the power went out, which also meant our water was out, as well as our heat.  And the cell phones went out because of some freakish coinciendce.  And the camp phone line went out.  Yep, let's say it together now, isolation.

So, I threw myself into making dinner.  Which was a challenge, because we have an electric stove.  But the downstairs apartment that no one is living in right now has a gas stove, so I treked up and down to cook the things I needed.  And, because this happens more than we like, I keep about 4 gallons of water in the laundry room.

Sickness inspired homemade chicken noodle soup with whole wheat noodles.  And because I love my husband I made white bread, which, when cut looked amazing like cake.

The electricy and heat and water came back on around 4, just in time to cook  the soup on my own range.  And the cell phone seems to be limping along.  At least it is letting me on line.

Now for some tea, a blanket and maybe nothing else. Tomorrow is a new day.  Let's hope it doesn't include sniffles, power outages and the like.

  1. OY! What a day! We too lose power too often. The joys of living in the "historical" district. We have wells...at least we have Target a couple miles away to wander in when we don't have power.
Glad you made it a good day despite the isolation.
