Cleaning

Today it was time to clean. I don't want to tell you the last time I mopped. And the sand, oh the sand that is in this house! With all the rain the last two weeks, it, the sand, has made it's way into the depths of the house.

So, it was time. Out came the mop, broom, and vacuum. And something new. When my sister in law was here a couple of months ago, she brought me a gift of nature disinfectant deodorizer made with essential oils. Peppermint and lavender to be exact. Very cool. I have been using it on the diaper pail ever since.

I liked it so much, I bought some of my own oils so I could make more. As I was wondering around the web, I came across this site, listing all the properties of many common oils. I also came across an idea to soak a small rag in an oil that you like and stick it in your vacuum cleaner bag so that instead of that stinky air behind your vacuum, you have a nice sent. Kind of fun!

I also added some Tea Tree Oil to the baby wipes I make, because of it's healing qualities, and Forrest has had a bit of a diaper rash lately.

I love that God has given us so much of what we need to take care of life. Who knew (alright, I know, someone did) that lavender was an antiseptic, disinfectant, anti fungal and a calming aid? Maybe that's why I wanted to sleep after I cleaned.
