I failed

Well, it's a good thing I didn't have a class to teach yesterday, because I failed you all greatly...only got one little snippet of a history/civics lesson out before life took over. I am so sorry!

Oh, rest assure, our family watched the whole day! I am not kidding...I had the TV on from 8:30 until 5 when we ate dinner. Being the civics nerd that I am, I loved every minute, all the little weird things that happen, and the history of the different parts of the day. I must confess, my husband was a bit bored, but I told him it was good for him.

Highlights...

Aretha Franklin signing My Country Tis of Thee

Watching the Obama girls take photos of their dad

Being able to yell every time they panned a new landmark, "I've been there!" (Thanks EJ and Renee!)

Remembering that with all this country has been through in the last 8 years, with terrorist attacks, wars, economic problems, we haven't had a coupe, but a peaceful transition of power...most people continued their daily life without a blip...unless of course you lived in Northern Virginia or Southern Maryland.

Talking with my dear friend Susanne, helping her brainstorm lesson plans for today...I miss that part of teaching.

The fact that my boys will only have known a non old white guy as president.

Ok, time to make breakfast and get on with life. And say a prayer for the Obamas today...they have a lot of pressure on them.

Photos are not from yesterday...they were from our trip to DC in '06.
