Don't Let it Fool You

Yeah, so just because it looks like this outside, doesn't mean it's warm.  It is 61 degrees right now...the perfect fall day...on June 29th!

Guess I need to enjoy it now.  And really I am.  Nice to sit with an afghan, and a hot cup of something, browsing the free books for the free Kindle for PC app.  Yep, in all my research for an ereader, I discovered that Amazon has an app for your PC.  And with so many free downloads, it sounded like a good idea.  We are saving for a Kindle because it makes sense to be able to take 1,500 books to Honduras on that instead of packing 1,500 physical books (anyone have one laying around they don't want?  We'll make an offer!).  I was able to look at a Nook (Barnes and Nobles answer to the Kindle) last week and was amazed by the screen.  It really is like looking at a piece of paper. We decided to go with the Kindle though because it has international downloads, whereas the Nook doesn't.  And they just dropped the price!

So,while I wait for the real deal, I will be enjoying free books on the backlit laptop screen.  I am off to enjoy some Dorian Gray on this fall day.

  1. We have a friend who wants to upgrade to a Kindle 2, but needs to sell his original one first. I think it's only about 1 yr. old at this point, so I can check and see if he's found a buyer yet, and if not how much he's hoping to get for it.
Also, I agree on the weather...we're at my in-laws in Sault Ste. Marie for the week and it is FREEZING...come back summer!

  2. I discovered the Kindle application for Mac just a few months ago and I love it! The only downside for me is that I don't have electricity here all the time and I don't want to use my computer battery reading when I have work to do :( But, a Kindle is a great investment for those on the road or becoming missionaries!
