Tree Tag

I'll tell you the story of our tree if you tell me yours!

Look at this little dinky thing. Last year we started a tradition of a tree hunt through Huron National Forest. However, this year, that just wasn't feasible, with a newborn and recovering mommy and all.

So, we went artificial and little tiny. This thing is only 18 inches tall. I stacked it up on a couple of boxes to try and give the impression that it's bigger. But it's a tree.

You probably notice the fact there isn't anything on it but lights. Yep, we have been sans ornaments for several years now.

It started one of the first years we were in our house in Holland. I put all the lights on the tree...I like a lot of white lights...and realized that it was beautiful in its simplicity. Just a tree with the lights. Nothing more, no clutter, no bows, no angel. It hit me that the reason we celebrate is because of another tree. In fact, a very ugly tree. With no bows, or clutter, but a man dying. For us.

So, we've stuck with the white lights.

Unto you a son is born. You will find him wrapped in cloth and lying in a manger. The King of the Jews. He was despised and rejected. He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities and the punishment that brought us peace was upon him and by his wounds we are healed. Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.

  2. Our favorite family tree farm is shutting down for a few yrs to allow the trees to grow up a bit more. So we're heading to the National Forest (North of G.R.) to do our own tree hunt next year. For $5 why not!

Your tree is pretty, check ours out at our blog!
